Outfit of the Day: Neon Yellow and Blue

I think this outfit is the perfect casual outfit. It is comfortable yet stylish. I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of yellow, but this bright neon print against the blue caught my attention. This cream clutch with neon trim was the perfect accessory. I added a long gold chain necklace and some gold earrings (not pictured).

How do you incorporate new colors into your wardrobe? Have you joined the neon trend?

Outfit of the Day: Lavender Lace

Purple has been my favorite color since I can remember. Unfortunately I have a hard time finding great items in purple. Either the style is off, the color is wrong or the print is awful. So you can imagine my excitement when I spotted this top.

This soft lavender and cream stripe top with lace front is both casual elegance and feminine expression. Paired with skinny jeans, ballet flats and a purple chunky beaded necklace with coordinating earrings makes this outfit great for casual Fridays at the office or hanging out with friends. Add a cream blazer and it's also a great style for a date night.

A Little Reminder

Yesterday we had our follow up OB appointment. In a week and a half I will be out of the first trimester. I was very excited to hear Baby's heart beat. The nurse midwife moved the Doppler across my abdomen searching and listening. The longer she listened the more I wondered, "is it still there? Does Baby still have a heart beat?" Finally we heard it. I find myself amazed  and grateful that this baby is still there and still growing strong. It is a little reminder that God is in control, he is forming this baby and this child will always and forever be His.

As I walk out this season of life with Scott's mysterious health issues, surviving on one income, and being pregnant throughout it all, I am more aware than ever of how dependant I am on God. For his strength, for endurance, for provision. He has sustained me. He has shown us over and over again that he loves us, he is with us, he will meet all of our needs.
I am overwhelmed and blessed by the many people who have supported us along the way. Their love, care, prayers and encouragement have made such a difference in our lives.

Inspiration to Recreation: Knotted-Braided Bun

I enjoy watching hair tutorials and then trying to figure out if I can change it or alter it in some way to make it my own. I created this look by combining two inspirational hairstyles.

Styling this knotted bun with a braided cord wrapped around it, makes it a little different and unique. I think this hairstyle is particularly great for those of us who have several layers in your hair. Adding a hair accessory, like this lace bow, gives the look that little extra.

Outfit of the Day: Peter Pan Sparkle

I often look for items that have something interesting about them, something unique, something that stands out. Sometimes I look for items that shine!

This sparkly sequin peter pan collar adds a fun style to an otherwise plain t-shirt. I love this look for the weekend. Pairing it with my skinny jeans and gold toned jeweled sandals and gold earrings makes this outfit easy to wear and keeps you looking stylish!

Outfit of the Day: One Dress Two Ways

Being able to create more than one look with an item is always my goal.

Items with neutral colors or classic prints are great to use to create several looks. I took this cow-like print dress and paired it with a coral cardigan and chunky beaded coral necklace. Adding black flats with a lace cut-out detail makes this a great casual outfit for work or church.

Taking the same dress and pairing it with an aqua blue cardigan and chunky necklace, but adding wedges, gives a new take on this dress. This is also a great outfit for work or even a date night.

Outfit of the Day: Mint Stripes

Have I said lately how much I adore lace. I like my lace to give a classic feminine look rather than a vintage 'grandma' look.

This mint and white stripe top with lace front is such a cute and comfortable top. Pairing it with pink skinny pants and accessorizing with a tri-toned necklace and coordinating earrings brings the look together. Adding a blazer gives it a more dressed up look.

Inspiration to Recreation: The Double Bun

Today's inspiration comes from Kate and her double bun. I love this style because it works really well for my hair. I have fine hair and to pull it up into a regular bun...well it just looks small and not as impressive. The idea of creating the illusion of fullness with two buns is brilliant! Try it out and see if this idea works for you as well.
